"Map of Tibet"
Showing the Territory of Tibet in early Republic of China.
Marked in color are the three regions of Tibet (sometimes called "Central Tibet"): Nearer Tibet ("U"), Farther Tibet ("Tsang"), and Ngari.
Bordering Tibet are territories, districts, and provinces as organized in the late Qing Dynasty. On the east is Chuanbian District ("Kham"), on the northeast is Qinghai Territory ("Kokonor" or "Amdo"), and on the north is Xinjiang Province.
