This map shows the China region in the late 1940's, with essentially post-1925 provincial boundaries of the Republic of China with one exception. Independence of the Outer Mongolia Territory was first recognized on January 5, 1946 after the signing of the "Sino-Soviet Treaty of Friendship and Alliance" and a referendum in 1945. Tibet Territory became the only remaining administrative division with Territory status.
